TX STATE CHAMPIONSHIP SPRINT ADVENTURE RACE RULES:
PENALTIES: 10 minutes – 1st offense, DQ Second Offense; except you may be DQ’d at the race director’s discretion for poor sportsmanship on your 1st offense
PointsTeams receive points according to their finishing place in each individual race. We will count points from the 3 best finishes for each team. Teams that compete in all 4 races may drop their worst point placement (ex: the teams' total points are the 3 best finishes in the series). Points for races #1 - #3 will be awarded from the chart designated for races #1 - #3. Race #4 points will be awarded from the chart designated for Race #4. Rankings in the Texas State Championships will be determined by the 3 best race finishes of each team. All protests must be filed within 10 minutes of posting the final results, before the awards ceremony. Tie Breaker #1 Ties will be decided by comparing results of head to head competition of the tied teams (the team that came in ahead of the other team the most times in the 3 races chosen). If still tied the team with the most 1st place finishes wins. If still tied the team with the most 2nd place finishes wins, etc until a winner is determined. Tie Breaker #2 If still tied the team that finished highest at the final race #4 will win. If only one of the tied teams competes in race #4 that team would win by default. Races a team decides to drop will not be used in tie breakers. A team that races in only 3 races must use all races in determining their standings. TEAMMATES: Racers may compete with several teams in the 4 different series races, however racers may only acquire points for 1 team in the series. The first team a racer competes for will receive the points for the series, unless the racer specificaly tells us before the series starts which category he/she plans to race in. This must be done before the racer completes his/her first race! Teams are allowed 2 alternate teammates throughout the series. These alternate teammates may race in one or several races in any order. Alternate teammates may only acquire points for 1 team in the series. The first team an alternate teammate competes for will receive the points for the series. Example # 1: Joe Racer competes as an alternate member of Team USA in race #2. Joe Racer later competes as a member of Team Texas in race #4. Team USA would receive the points because they are the first team that Joe Racer competed on in the series. Even if Team USA is not in the series (Team USA only competes in 1 race) Team USA would still receive the points as they are the first team that Joe Racer competed on in the series. Example # 2: If Joe Racer competes for a team that does not receive points (the team finishes too low to receive points) that is still the first team that Joe Racer competed for and the only team Joe Racer can acquire points for during the season (unless Joe Racer told us before the series ever started which category he/she planned to race in. Alternate teammates may race in another sprint race with another team in the series but that team will not receive points towards the championship. You should always check with an alternate racer to insure that they have not raced for another team in the series. At least one of the original team members (from race #1) must compete on the team in all subsequent races for the team to receive points in the Texas State Championship Series. Texas Team/Club Championship Teams may represent their club in the Texas Team/Club Championship. Team/Club will receive points for their 5 highest finishing teams in each event of the Texas State Championship Adventure Race Series. (5 Highest finishing teams from any category, not highest 5 teams from each category). The team/club which has the highest point total after the final race of the series will be crowned the Texas State Club Champions. In the event of a tie, the team/club with the most 1st place finishes at the final race wins. If still tied the team/club with the most 2nd place finishes at the final race wins, etc until a winner is determined. The Texas State Team/Club Champions will take home the Texas State Club Champions traveling trophy for the year and have a permanent plaque attached to the trophy. Teams/Clubs that wish to register for the Texas Team/Club Championships must include their Team/Club name during the online registration process. If you are late registering on race day, you must notate your Team/Club name on the late registration form so our timer can enter it in the computer before the race. Teams must be registered as representing a team/club prior to a race to recieve points for that race.
