This is Texas’ Top Gun Solo Race. Solo racers get a chance to prove who is the faster adventure racer in Texas! However, course may also be raced as the traditional 2 person team. Teams travel together during the race; it is not a relay. (See General Information )
This year's race has been moved to Camp Longhorn, home of Tex Robertson, Scott's uncle, who passed away this past August. Tex Robertson (1909 - 2007) was not only the founder, but also a friend and Inspiration for all. Although he has left this earth, his spirit and presence will always be among the hills and dales and the many lives he has touched throughout his magnificent 98 years. This year's race will be a memorial to Tex, with a portion of the proceeds being donated to one of Tex's designated charities.
The race will start at Camp Longhorn's original camp (see directions link). The camp has grown to encompass not only the Inks Lake Camp, but also Indian Springs Camp. The race will utilize both camps, and allow the racers to race on an extraordianary and unique race course. The race will be organized as a true challenge, in the spirit of Tex. And as Tex would say, "Sure you can!" and "Attawaytogo!"

There will be a central transition area where teams can set up a camp. During the race the teams will pass through this area several times making it possible to reload on food, water, change clothes, etc. Teams may not have assistance crews in the transition area. There are several legs in this race including mountain biking, paddling, and trail running. Boats will be provided and will already be pumped up. The boats are inflatable canoes (Sevylor Tahiti K79). The canoes do not come with seats. We recommend bringing your own High Back Seat made by Sevylor (Model H12Y). These seats can be purchased through a Sevylor Dealer, or from us on race day. Call in advance to make sure we have them in stock. You must use our boats, paddles, and pfds. There are no water stations along the course. Teammates must remain in visual contact with each other at all times. The course will be marked and will not involve land navigation. Teams will not be required to carry boats this year.
